- Anidulafungin (Eraxis) is an echinocandin antifungal medication
- Other echinocandins are micafungin (Mycamine) and caspofungin (Cancidas)
- Echinocandins work by inhibiting 1,3-beta-D-glucan synthesis, a component of the fungal cell wall
- Echinocandins have activity versus a variety of yeasts, including Candida albicans, Candida glabrata and Candida Krusei
- Common dosing in adults is 200mg IV loading dose on the first day, then 100mg IV daily thereafter
- No adjustments for liver or renal impairment
- Does not come oral, no echinocandins do
- Generally well tolerated and no FDA Boxed Warnings
- AST/ALT elevation has been reported
- Infusion-related reactions have been reported
- Does not achieve good concentrations in the eye, central nervous system, or urine
