Bassam Ghanem, Pharm.D., MS, BCPS completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Philadelphia University, then subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Jordan. He completed post-graduate pharmacy training in Hematology Oncology & Infectious Diseases at Howard University (Washington, DC, USA).
Currently Dr. Ghanem is a clinical pharmacist trained in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship. Currently, he works as a clinical pharmacist at King Abdulaziz Medical City (Jeddah Lol, Saudi Arabia) where he is responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients in surgery units, including managing patients with complex surgical site infections. He also has a passion for antimicrobial stewardship and assists with hospital-wide stewardship initiatives.
Dr. Ghanem is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and he has completed the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate program. He is an active member of SIDP as well as the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s Infectious Diseases and Perioperative Care Practice and Research Networks. He serves as a preceptor to pharmacy residents as well as interns.
His practice interests include antimicrobial dosing, pharmacometrics, and antimicrobial stewardship with a concentration on surgical site infections.
