Timothy P. Gauthier, Pharm.D., BCPS-AQ ID is a pharmacist trained in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship. He is a clinician, researcher, educator, and author. He is an advocate for antimicrobial stewardship.
Dr. Gauthier graduated from Northeastern University’s School of Pharmacy (Boston, MA). He then completed a Post-Graduate Year-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and a Post-Graduate Year-2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami, FL).
Since 2012 he has been a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist with Added Qualifications in Infectious Diseases and has completed the Making A Difference in Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy Antimicrobial Stewardship Training Program.
Dr. Gauthier’s scholarly work has been read by over 750,000 people and through social media he has reached millions of people across the world. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles indexed in PubMed, including contributions within top journals such as Clinical Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, and American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy. He has co-authored several book chapters. He has worked as a free-lance writer for Pharmacy Times. He serves as a peer reviewer for several medical journals.
His research interests include: antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacy education, pharmacy practice, pharmacy leadership, social media, colistin, inhaled tobramycin, penicillin skin testing, and treatment of vancomycin-resistant Enterococci.
