Robert S. Pugliese, PharmD, BCPS is an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) and Clinical Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University, College of Pharmacy. His focuses include advancing the practice of Emergency Medicine Pharmacy through the promotion of evidence based medicine, research, publication, outreach, and teaching. Robert is a current member of the ASHP Section Advisory Group on Emergency Care, Twitter Committee, where he is responsible for developing and disseminating educational content via the official ASHP_EMPharm Twitter account. Robert’s contributes regularly to Free Open Access Medical Education (FOAMed) via social media and his Twitter @theEDpharmacist and he is a founding author/reviewer of CAPSULES, online emergency medicine pharmacology courses on ALiEMU.com.
Robert has recently been appointed as Co-Director of JeffDESIGN and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College, College within the College Design Track (CwiC-Design) program. The first-of-its-kind for a U.S. medical school, CwiC-Design teaches med students to apply patient centered design thinking to solve healthcare challenges with a focus on innovation and the maker mindset. As Co-Director, Robert bridges his experience with rapid prototyping and DIY technology with his 10 years of healthcare experience to rethink how we educate doctors and care for patients in the rapidly changing world of healthcare. Prior to working at TJUH, Robert helped develop and establish Emergency Department Pharmacy services at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
