2024 IDstewardship Year End Review

In this article we do a quick run down on IDstewardship for the end of 2024.

Article Posted January 2025

It was welcomed that 2024 did not feel like an extension of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic as 2021-2023 had. I think many of us working in the infectious diseases space were grateful not to be at the mercy of pandemic demands.  2024 was a slower year for IDstewardship in regards to content creation and online engagement, but that still meant a lot of great new things were released.

As we look to 2025, this article provides a look back and checkpoint in the life of IDstewardship.com, LearnAntibiotics.com, and the IDstewardship social media profiles. In composing this reflection, it is readily apparent that the people who make IDstewardship possible deserve great recognition. This includes all of the amazing people who are contributors, site visitors, and everyone who shares our content. Without our community of fantastic humans, none of this would be possible.

Three major things that happened in 2024 were (1) expanding to Bluesky for social media, reducing use of X, (2) publication of the Learn Antibiotics: Book of Games, (3) publishing a mix of content rather than focusing mainly on blog articles.

Here is a look back on 2024…

2024 WEBSITE ANALYTICS for www.LearnAntibiotics.com

  • GA4 issues made tracking analytics for 2024 impossible
  • Active members at end of 2024: 260
  • 2,739 Learn Antibiotics, First Edition sales registered on Amazon through 2024
  • 95 Learn Antibiotics: Book of Games sales registered on Amazon through 2024
    • A big focus in 2024 was making the Learn Antibiotics Book of Games Available. Interest in this book has been below expectations but still solid. We are very proud to make this novel resource available.
    • To the person who gave the book a one star review and commented that it’s “disappointing – nothing new just rearranged” – This false claim and poor review is incredibly offensive. This and having our content blatantly plagiarized on LinkedIn have been the two major low points in 2024.
    • Thank you to those who have given our product fair and honest reviews

FORWARD LOOKING STATEMENT

In 2025 IDstewardship will be focusing on our fundamentals. This will include creating fun bog posts with new collaborators, bolstering the LearnAntibiotics.com training website content, and sharing information about bugs & drugs on social media. It is likely there will be greater activity on Bluesky and less activity on X. It is likely our newsletter will remain a key communication for reaching the IDstewardship community.  Not knowing what 2025 will hold, it is likely unpredictable events in our future will further guide what activities we engage in this year.
