There are many infectious diseases conferences and meetings that take place around the world each year. Every conference offers unique opportunities for learning. Infectious diseases conferences may have emphasis on things such as antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, clinical microbiology, immunocompromised hosts, pediatrics, fungal pathogens, microbial breakpoints or other.

One thing that is important to make note of here is to BEWARE PREDATORY CONFERENCES. The most reliable source in the world (wink, wink) wikipedia defines a predatory conference as “meetings set up to appear as legitimate scientific conferences but which are exploitative as they do not provide proper editorial control over presentations, and advertising can include claims of involvement of prominent academics who are, in fact, uninvolved. They are an expansion of the predatory publishing business model, which involves the creation of academic publications built around an exploitative business model that generally involves charging publication fees to authors without providing the editorial and publishing services associated with legitimate journals.” We have some information on predatory journals that you can find here.

In creating this list of antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases conferences and meetings, I asked for help from the #IDtwitter community which you can see from this Twitter post. I did not include meetings that I could not find a (at least seemingly) updated and legitimate website for. Some suggested listings appeared to be lectures or courses rather than conferences, so those are not included here. I also did not include non-infectious diseases meetings that also contain infectious disease content.

It is really striking how many international, national, and local antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases conferences and meetings there are. It is clear from putting this list together that it is not representative of all gatherings that occur each year. Hopefully however it is still a helpful resource!
